Janice Shapiro, MA, LMFT California Lic #86051

Psychotherapist for Marriage, Individual and Family Happiness

Each therapist has his or her own theories of choice and clinical style. My style is collaborative, interactive and focused on your immediate needs.

My approach comes from cognitive (learn how to manage your thoughts, rather than your thoughts manage you), behavioral (repeating the same thing over and over again won't necessarily make you feel any different), and family systems (the family is always changing, self-organizing and adapting to its members and the outside environment. Problems often arise when old patterns don't keep up with the changes.)

I utilize strategies from a variety of different theories for change to meet my clients' needs. My work includes concepts from Psychodynamic, CBT, Internal Family Systems, Inherited Family Trauma as well as others. Each approach requires the ability to  make changes in how we perceive the world and ourselves within the world. That is why the core of my style lies in FLEX PERSPECTIVE. When we allow ourselves to understand others' perspectives, we give ourselves the flexibility to change.

Please contact me if you have questions or want more information about my work,

Janice
