Most couples come to therapy saying they want to improve their "communication". This in itself can be a very broad and vague area. After many years of helping couples reconnect and strengthen their relationship, I have zeroed in on what I believe to be the four most important aspects of "communication". Coincidentally, altogether they spell L.O.V.E.
L: LISTEN to each other so both of you feel heard
O: OTHER is a most important concept in a relationship
V: VULNERABILITY instead of defensiveness
E: EMPATHIZE, EMPATHIZE, EMPATHIZE
In Couples Counseling, you will learn all about how these parts relate to the way you are now communicating in order to fit your individual needs as a couple. Once the four components of L.O.V.E. is understood and practiced, you will have a strong and everlasting connection. L.O.V.E. will become your automatic way of "communicating" with each other.
